The Return of the King & The Two Towers

Orchestrating a classic

“The Lord of the Rings” soundtracks are regarded as some of the greatest film scores ever created. Jason Poss assisted Howard Shore with orchestration on “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King”. The scores were around-the-clock operations spanning three continents, and were some of the most fast-moving and technically advanced film scores of their time. “The Two Towers” received a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack, and “The Return of the King” received Academy Awards for Best Original Soundtrack and Best Original Song.

Small film, big music

“The Moon’s Not That Great” was an animated short film with big musical ideas and a limited budget. SoS helped determine the instruments to be recorded live, provided orchestration and music preparation, secured top-tier Hollywood studio musicians, and conducted the recording session to deliver a soundtrack that far exceeded what seemed possible.
