Barlow & Bear perform at the 3rd Annual SCL Awards

The 3rd Annual SCL Awards

Yesterday was the Society of Composers & Lyricists’ 3rd Annual SCL Awards. SoS provided music preparation and contracted the all-star lineup of Hollywood musicians. This year’s ceremony featured performances by Aloe Blacc, Barlow & Bear, Judith Hill, Tom Scott, and world-champion accordionist Cory Pesaturo.

Jason Poss and SoS have been a part of every SCL Awards since their inaugural ceremony three years ago providing music preparation, managing the hiring of musicians, and consulting on union contracts and procedures.

Hawkeye releases today

...with Avengers on Broadway?

Hawkeye releases today on Disney+. Surprisingly, there was vocal music in the series that needed transcription and dubbing. Broadway and film music legend Marc Shaiman composed a musical number for “Rogers: The Musical” that is featured in the show. Who better to parody Broadway and the Avengers than Shaiman? Jason Poss admits to laughing out loud while working on this satirical show tune.

Bringing Encanto to the world

Encanto releases in theaters tomorrow! After a year of working, we’re proud to help share this colorful, magical, fantasy of Colombia with the world.

This project was special for two reasons. First, colleagues of Central- and South-American descent are thrilled to see this beautiful culture portrayed in a major film. Second, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote songs that provided unique challenges for voice acting and dubbing.

Jason Poss transcribed the vocals for all songs in the film, and working with Disney Character Voices International, created new tools to simplify translating and performing the rhythmic precision required to sync with the characters on screen.

The feedback from voice actors and dubbing producers around the world has been overwhelmingly positive. We were able to make their jobs easier – requiring fewer takes and less editing. Any project this size is a team effort, and we are proud we could help our colleagues.
